Providence Patient Dining Host Specialist in Seaside, Oregon

Providence is calling a Patient Dining Host Specialist to Providence Seaside Hospital in Seaside, OR. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), rotating/variable shift position.

We are seeking a Patient Dining Host Specialist that will be responsible for meeting all patient menu processing, meal and nourishment expectations and needs. Provides excellent customer services by being concerned, understanding, and sympathetic to patient concerns, circumstances, and expectations in regard to their meal service. Works to improve communications between patient, nursing and nutrition services.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in Nursing unit communications and interactions to determine day-to-day unit issues, related to nutritional status and other patient related information as needed to perform duties, and meet the needs of patient's care plan

  • Establish and maintain positive, service oriented and professional relationships with and unit staff

  • Record temperatures of patient care snack refrigerators

  • Deliver warm washcloth and fresh water to patients, prior to the next meal service

  • Print diet order work sheet to verify accuracy and match of trays delivered and current diet order

  • Inspect tray to assure accuracy of foods and condiments

  • Assure tray meets all aesthetic dept. standards

  • Deliver meal tray to patients

  • Assist patient to be ready to consume meal as directed by nursing staff

  • Anticipate patient comfort issues and takes action as appropriate to maximize comfort of patient

  • Respond to questions and concerns of patient regarding food service or refers to appropriate staff

  • Alert RN to any issue, concern, or patient welfare issue

  • Order, receive, and store, and maintain for unit floor stock

  • Record consumed foods on calorie count trays and submits to Dietician

  • Record Intake and Output (I&O) in patient chart, as directed by nursing

  • Discuss menu options for the day with the patient and places orders with the Cook

  • Collect used trays from Patient rooms and returns them to the cart, and then to the kitchen

  • Order and deliver trays, additional foods, and snacks for patients as needed

  • Be responsible to keep unit kitchen and storage area clean and organized

  • Keep refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker clean and maintained

  • Complete goals of last evaluation

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Current Oregon Food Handlers Certificate -OR- receive certificate within 6 months of hire

  • Experience in Customer Services, patient interactions, food service, computer operations and time management
